Thailand NRCA Key Generation Ceremony set the goal to accommodate up to 1M certificates by 2025.

ETDA, through the NRCA, has introduced a new Certification Authority (CA) system root infrastructure, G2 and G3, to support electronic certificate issuers' growing demand. The system aims to accommodate up to 1 million certificate issuances in the year 2025.

The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) performed the NRCA Key Generation Ceremony, which marks the new generation of cryptographic keys for National-level electronic certificate issuance. The event took place on 17th August 2566. The NRCA G2 infrastructure will support SSL services, while the NRCA G3 infrastructure will support Document Signing and other services.

Dr Chaichana Mitrpant, the CEO of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), stated that the critical infrastructure that supports electronic certificate issuance, or CA, plays a significant role in maintaining data security and verifying the authenticity of certified documents. It also allows for website security checks (SSL) and secure email systems (S/MIME). The introduction of G2 and G3 infrastructure further enhances the NRCA's existing service capabilities, allowing for a wide range of CA activities and accommodating future electronic certificate issuers' needs. Additionally, it supports the growth of the country's electronic certificate market. Last year, approximately 200,000 electronic certificates were issued, and the demand projection shows an increase due to the rising need for data security and accuracy.

ETDA, through the NRCA, is preparing to advance the success of certificate issuance services by promoting essential knowledge about CA and offering consultation to service providers and users at different levels. The NRCA aims to elevate its position to become a nationally standardized and comprehensive CA service centre for Thailand's electronic certificate issuance in the future.
Furthermore, NRCA and Securemetric will jointly organize a CA Platform Training Workshop on August 21-23, 2023. The workshop will cover PKI Overview, CA Operation and Accreditation, and ACME secure protocol.
